About Russia

Russia, officially known as the Federal Russia, is a country in northern Eurasia, with a quasi-presidential republican system comprising 83 federal entities. Russia is the world’s largest country in terms of area, covering 8/1 of the world’s inhabited land area with an area of 17,075,400 square kilometers, and the ninth most populous country in the world with more than 143 million people. [9] Russia spans the entire whole of North Asia and 40% of Europe, covers nine time zones, a wide range of environments and terrain, has the world’s largest reserves of mineral resources and energy and has the world’s largest reserves of forests and lakes, which contain nearly a quarter of the world’s freshwater.

The Russian capital, Moscow, is the largest city in Russia today and one of the world’s largest cities in terms of population.

Climate in Russia:

The climate in Russia varies greatly due to its enormous size. It is mild in summer, with temperatures ranging from 1-30°C above zero, and cold in autumn. In winter, it is cold, with temperatures ranging from 0-50°C below zero. The northern and near arctic regions are characterized by long and cold winters and relatively short and cold summers. Regions including Moscow and St. Petersburg have a temperate continental climate

Currency:

* The official currency is the ruble and is equal to 100 Cubic’s and every US dollar is worth 60 rubles.

* Categories of banknotes currently in circulation: 1000 rubles, 500 rubles, 100 rubles, 50 rubles, 10 rubles. In July 2006, a 5,000-ruble banknote was issued.

Teaching language

For an Egyptian student, the student can study in English or Russian, but prefers to study a preparatory year (Russian) and then study the bachelor’s degree in Russian.

Preparatory year

The student is subjected to studying Russian before enrolling at the university to ensure his mastery of the teaching language and understanding of university courses. The duration of the preparatory year of (8-10) months and divided into two semesters, the student studies the first semester Russian and in the second semester is added to the scientific subjects of his specialty such as (biology and chemistry) of medicine and (mathematics and physics) of engineering.

For students wishing to attend medical specialties, the preparatory year will be studied at the same university that they will attend after their success in the preparatory year.

Study system

The school system in Russia is the quarterly system so that the school year consists of two grades

(4 months per term). The summer holidays start in July and August.

School year start date

The study begins at all Russian universities beyond the preparatory year at the beginning of September and continues until the end of June.

The preparatory year continues to receive students until 01/11/2020
