Universities din București, generally known in Romania, is a public university founded on July 4, 1864 (155 years ago) by decree of Prince Alexandro Yuan Kuza to transform the former Princely Academy into the present-day University of Bucharest, making it the second oldest modern university in Romania and one of the five members of the University Union (Romanian Elite University Group).
The University of Bucharest offers courses in Romanian and English and is classified by the Ministry of Education as an advanced research and education university in the QS World University 2012 ranking, which is included in the world’s top 700 universities, along with three other Romanian universities.
